We have an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Watchkeeper to join our Rolls-Royce Submarines Availability Centre in Derby. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be a point of contact internally and externally between the MoD and the Technical Authority on NSRP issues and defects on all classes of submarines both in service and in build.

What you will be doing:
  1. You will co-ordinate and create responses to submarines mechanical NSRP defects / issues.
  2. You will manage responses to defects, concession requests, customer queries and NSRP issues through the company defect reporting and issues management systems.
  3. Direct point of contact between the customer and the wider submarines enterprise. This involves face to face, telephone and e-mail communications between the MoD technical and safety cells, Rolls-Royce site offices and our internal experts in a wide array of technical and project fields.
  4. Supporting the Rolls-Royce Submarines element of the Nuclear Accident Response Organisation.
  5. Creating, co-ordinating and managing technical projects through a wider network of resources. This involves the identification or assessment of an improvement or opportunity, creation of a high-level set of requirements to achieve the solution, and the technical co-ordination of a wider section of resources through to achievement of the solution.
Who we’re looking for:

Royal Navy Category A, B or C Nuclear Watchkeeper preferred or Degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate discipline. Good communications skills, both verbal and written. The ability to initiate strategies for solving complex problems and the making of accurate decisions and recommendations. The ability to prioritise, manage and control tasks to achieve the business/technical objectives within required timescales.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
