We are looking for an experienced RN/ODP to take on a Team leader role for the anaesthetic team within inpatient theatres across Paul Calvert, St James' and Lanesborough theatres at SGH.
Our mission is to deliver outstanding care at all times to patients treated in our operating theatres and to do that, we need exceptional people.
To act as the professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the nursing team.
To have continuous responsibility for the management & organisation of the ward/department.
To be accountable for the overall provision of excellent nursing care and to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Working alongside our other team leaders, reporting to the Matron, your duties will include but not limited to leading clinical shifts, investigating adverse incidents, planning and implementing actions to ensure learning is shared across the department, undertaking quality audits, roster management, budget management and recruitment.
You will have the motivation, vision and leadership qualities necessary to lead a safe, productive and efficient anaesthetic team.
St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey.Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
Qualification & Training
Relevant post-registration experience in anaesthetics [ At least 2 years in anaesthetic ] post re
Mentorship qualification and experience in practice supervision and assessment
Mentorship qualification or working towards advanced studies leading to BSc or evidence of further professional development
Relevant training or post-registration qualification in Leadership and/or Management
Substantial experience in perioperative and anaesthetic care, demonstrating comprehensive clinical knowledge in anaesthesia procedures, equipment, and patient safety protocols
In-depth computer skills
Organisational Management
Experience in staff sickness management
Experience in quality improvement or project management
Knowledge of clinical governance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance within anaesthetic and perioperative services.
Ability to implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, conducts audits, and contribute to risk management and incident reporting and incident response.
Strong commitment to ongoing professional development, both for self and team members, fostering a culture of learning and improvement.
