Business Development Manager - Licensing

This role will be worked predominantly from home in the UK with regular attendance at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire. We are looking to recruit a Licensing Business Development Manager, to support the Head of Rights in maximizing licensing revenue in the global corporate sector, and to establish a workflow to grow and maintain a relevant and sustainable licensing framework. delivering revenue growth and profit objectives, and contributing to the agenda for rights development initiatives. New product and service licensing will be a core element of this role, to identify new opportunities to create new revenue lines such as TDM, licensing data services, digital and AI licensing. This role carries responsibility for a high level of cross-functional and departmental collaboration and is required to design and lead specific strategic projects, in cooperation with key stakeholders to include corporates, legal counsel, the technology team and the wider commercial team. Design, with key stakeholders, a 1-3 year business plan for this channel, ensuring that activity is both relevant and flexible to the evolving trading environment over time.
~ Identify and execute strategic activity projects relating to this revenue stream.
~ Ensure the effectiveness of communication channels, enabling the delivery of quantifiable business benefit, in line with company objectives and policies.
~ Support the Head of Rights in delivering a clear vision for operational effectiveness, and development of revenue line through increased trading and profitability.
~ Report monthly to Head of Rights, on sales progress and the business environment, monitoring enabling responsiveness to both the micro and macro trading conditions.
~ Drive compliance with company trading and terms policy, to protect profitability and value of business across all territories; Actively liaise with other stakeholder departments within the business to include commercial, tech, editorial, legal, business improvement and finance, to enhance T&F’s coverage of the corporate sector.
~ Where necessary, represent the company externally e.g. on working party groups or through networks, maintaining a presence and information gathering role on the trading environment.
~ Cultivate strong, holistic relationships with the customer base, working to ensure that trading with each account is sustainable, profitable and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
~ An understanding of current AI technologies and advancements in the field.
~ A basic understanding of the academic publishing industry or the book/journals trade.
~ Familiarity with key business models and industry stakeholders within the tech industry.
~ A good understanding ofAI technologies (Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, RAG etc)
~ Experience with Salesforce. The ability to influence, drive for results and establish a clear agenda for development of the channel.
~ Positive and flexible attitude, willing to take on many different types of tasks and apply to them the same level of effort and expertise.
~ Willingness to travel when required.
~ This role will be worked predominantly from home in the UK with regular attendance at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
