Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

Eastbourne East Sussex, United Kingdom Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, creative Occupational Therapist to join an exciting new collaboration between health and social care in East Sussex. You will be a founding member of a small Clinical Multi-Disciplinary Team (CL-MDT) supporting the work of the Connected Families (CF) Coaching Team. Located within SWIFT Specialist Family Services, the focus of the Coaching Team is on providing timey, targeted and effective interventions to increase the number of young people on the horizon of care to remain (or return to live) safely in the care of their families.

The aim of the Cl-MDT is to complement existing multiagency resources and bridge the current gaps in provision for young people and their families. You will work closely with an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, Systemic Therapist and Clinical Psychologist, alongside those who have established relationships with the young people and their families. You will support the Coaching Team and wider network of professionals to assess, formulate, plan and deliver interventions to stabilise, reduce risk, support recovery and resilience building and enhance relationships.

To support your development in the post we have allocated funding to purchase one module of the Sensory Integration Training (SI Module 1,2 or 3 as appropriate) on appointment

Main duties of the job

Working alongside colleagues as part of the Cl-MDT you will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy assessment, consultation and interventions. You will support the young person alongside the parent and/or coach to explore and/or return to meaningful and valued activity through the provision of support to understand sensory need, sensory strategies, adaptive strategies, re-motivational process and occupational adaptation and environmental modifications.

You will also be welcomed as a key member of the well-established SWIFT Children's Assessment Team (CAT) Neurodevelopmental Clinic, which is to be developed to include the Connected Families Coaching Team cohort of young people. You will be responsible for the Occupational Therapy contribution to a multi-professional assessment of neurodiversity.

The post is at band 7 and full time.

About us

You will employed to work as part of SWIFT Specialist Family Services (SWIFT), a well-established integrated multi-agency service between East Sussex Children's Services and Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. SWIFT is led by the local authority, who will have oversight of the direction and performance of the CF Cl-MDT.

As a heath practitioner you will be employed by Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust and integrated into the existing governance arrangements for CAMHS posts within SWIFT.

Sussex Partnership provides mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex. The trust is rated as 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for caring by the CQC.

East Sussex Children's Services are a high-performing authority that has been rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

SPFT encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/lie balance brings about huge health related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, flexible start/finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
