Job Description

As we continue to grow our R&D team, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong technical leadership skills and practical expertise. In collaboration with the R&D Manager, you will play an integral role in the development of our engineering team.

You will be joining a small but growing team in the UK, with some exciting and innovative product development projects in progress, offering ample opportunities for immediate engagement and contribution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Design solutions to meet technical, quality, time and cost requirements (SolidWorks CAD)
  • Undertake appropriate calculations and analysis to prove suitability of mechanical designs
  • Produce engineering detail drawings and other associated documentation at a high standard
  • Verification, validation and development of designs from initial concept to volume manufacture
  • Work with appropriate Notified Bodies to obtain the required product certification
  • Support the continuous development of departmental talent, processes and working practices

WHAT YOU NEED FOR SUCCESS

  • Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience with 5 years post-qualification experience in a design / development engineering environment
  • Design for quality and manufacture understanding and practical experience, to ensure our products meet our own high standards and the needs of our customers
  • CAD literate (ideally SolidWorks) with design experience in a practical work environment
  • Good understanding of geometric tolerances, tolerance analysis and other Quality-critical design principles
  • High degree of creative ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical team members, to get the best possible outcome
  • Experience of EN81-40 or an equivalent elevator standard and its application to the design and verification process
  • Capable of self-starting and working effectively as part of a larger team
  • Experience of leading an engineering team
