Barnsley South Yorkshire, United Kingdom South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust Full time

Following the promotion of the previous post holder to the position of Service Lead, we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity for a dedicated and forward-thinking nurse to join our paediatric epilepsy specialist service, here in Barnsley.
We would welcome applications from nurses who have an interest in epilepsy and who have a desire to provide excellent care to children and young people, as well as their parents/carers. You will be a vital member of the team, working alongside the Service Lead and colleagues from primary, secondary and tertiary care to promote the health and wellbeing of children and young people with epilepsy, and to be an expert resource for children, young people, and parents/carers.
All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.
This specialist nursing role requires the post holder to develop expertise in the speciality. You will support medical and nursing colleagues in clinical practice, and will train staff in health, education, and care settings to support children and young people with epilepsy. This post provides a great opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner, providing teaching, advice and practical support to families and other carers in the community setting. As you manage a shared caseload of patients, you will establish effective communication with the children and young people that you support. You will also work closely with colleagues in health, education, and social care, which provides excellent opportunities to develop your skills in multi-agency working.
Although this post is predominantly a Monday to Friday 9am-5pm service, the post holder will also be expected to be flexible in meeting the needs of the service and children and families that we support, with the possibility of some out of hours work.
We are a specialist NHS Foundation Trust that provides community, mental health and learning disability services for the people of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. We also provide low and medium secure services and are the lead for the west Yorkshire secure provider collaborative.

We employ staff in both clinical and non-clinical services who work hard to make a difference to the lives of service users, families and carers.
We encourage and welcome applications from all protected characteristic groups, we value diversity and want our workforce to be reflective of our communities.
Being a foundation Trust means were accountable to our members, who can have a say in how were run. Around 14,300 local people (including staff) are members of our Trust.
Join us and you will be one of over 4,500 staff committed to supporting and improving the mental, physical and social needs of the thousands of people we meet and help each year.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all colleagues and volunteers to share this commitment.
The post-holder will work as a key member of the team and support the Epilepsy Clinical Team Leader in the delivery of the Barnsleys Paediatric Epilepsy Nursing Service.
They will manage a defined clinical caseload, providing specialist support, education, and complex case management to children and young people with epilepsy and their families and carers.
They will work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team with colleagues from community services, inpatient services, primary health care, social care, voluntary care sector, educational/employment settings and elsewhere.
