About the role: We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to support the learning and well-being of students with SEMH needs, providing individualised assistance and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Key responsibilities: Support students with SEMH needs in the classroom, providing one-to-one or small group assistance as directed by the teacher. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan), and behavior management strategies to support student progress and engagement. Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them develop coping strategies and social skills. Encourage and motivate students to participate in classroom activities and maintain a positive attitude toward learning. Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources, adapting activities to meet the diverse needs of students. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor student progress and communicate any concerns or observations. Support students during transitions between activities and provide assistance with personal care and hygiene if required. Qualifications and requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, either in an educational or care setting, is highly desirable. A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and provide empathetic support. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond effectively to challenging situations.
