Role: Senior Cloud Network Engineer
Contract Length: An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join their welcoming team.
The Senior Cloud Network Engineer Will:
- Design and implement cloud networking architectures, considering scalability, performance, security, and cost optimisation.
- Configure and manage virtual networks, subnets, routing tables, gateways, and other networking components in a cloud environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and security professionals, to ensure seamless integration of networking infrastructure with cloud applications and services.
- Implement network security measures, such as firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and virtual private networks (VPNs), to protect cloud resources from unauthorised access and data breaches.
- Monitor network performance, analyse traffic patterns, and optimise network configurations to ensure high availability and low latency for cloud-based applications.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and disruptions.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cloud network infrastructure.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud networking, and evaluate their potential impact on the organisation's infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cloud service providers and vendors to evaluate, implement, and integrate new networking technologies and services.
- Participate in capacity planning activities to ensure the cloud network infrastructure can accommodate future growth and increasing workload demands.
The Senior Cloud Network Engineer Will need:
- Solid understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, and familiarity with their networking services (e.g., Amazon VPC, Azure Virtual Network).
- Proficiency in network configuration and management tools, such as Cisco ACI, Cisco Meraki, PaloAlto ETC
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a distributed cloud environment.
- Knowledge of network security concepts and best practices, including firewall configuration, access control, and encryption protocols.
- Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualisation technologies.
- Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent, are a plus.
