Job Title: Apprentice Electrical and Building Services Engineer

Location: London

Job Summary: As an Apprentice Electrical and Building Services Engineer, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals in the electrical and building services industry. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to acquire practical skills and knowledge in electrical systems, controls, and building services. You will contribute to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and building services equipment while working towards becoming a qualified and competent engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist experienced engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and building services equipment in various residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
  2. Learn to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and building plans to understand project requirements.
  3. Gain knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
  4. Assist in the installation of electrical equipment, fixtures, and appliances while adhering to safety guidelines.
  5. Learn to diagnose electrical issues, troubleshoot problems, and assist in performing repairs and replacements as required.
  6. Develop knowledge in building services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
  7. Observe and learn to assess the performance of electrical and building services equipment and make recommendations for improvements.
  8. Follow health and safety regulations and ensure adherence to safe working practices at all times.
  9. Attend apprenticeship training programs, classes, and workshops to enhance technical skills and gain industry-recognized qualifications.
  10. Maintain accurate records of work completed, including detailed documentation of installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years old (may vary depending on local regulations and apprenticeship requirements).
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and building services is advantageous, but prior experience is not mandatory.
  • Strong interest in electrical and building services engineering, with a keen willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced professionals.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Valid driver's license (preferred but not always required).
