Risk Management
Effective identification, assessment and management of risk is pivotal to the achievement of NCS’s strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Risk & Internal Audit Assurance Manager, the Risk & Audit Assurance Lead will support continual improvement of risk management at the Trust. They will promote a consistent approach to the identification, assessment, control & reporting of risk across the organisation.
The Risk & Audit Assurance Lead will continuously and proactively support development, enhancement and efficiencies in delivering NCS’s Risk Management strategy. The Risk & Audit Lead will be a custodian of associated tools and processes, supporting with communicating and embedding these across the Trust.
The role will support NCS by working in partnership with colleagues and management across the organisation, and our partner network to mitigate the risks we are exposed to thus supporting our compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
Internal Audit
The role will also focus on embedding recent improvements to the Trusts approach to internal audit. Amongst other activities (detailed below), this aspect of the role will include monitoring the Trust’s progress against audit recommendations, ensuring that reporting is accurate, delivering leadership's oversight of audit recommendations and our progress against them.
The successful applicant will demonstrate an enthusiasm for continual improvement, have an interest in data analysis and reporting. Risk Management
Assist in compiling monthly reports & dashboards for the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leaders
Identifying Risk performance trends across the organisation
Support the development and delivery of a Risk Management System
Build relationships Support continual improvement through Identifying gaps in risk management practice.
Support Risk Manager as a point of contact for Risk Management, fielding departmental concerns or questions on risks.
Monitor progress of risk management action plans.
Work with colleagues & managers by building strong working relationships across the organisation to gain credibility to support an appropriate level of review and influence to support them to engage in a value-adding risk culture.
Review & monitor Departmental, Corporate and Aggregated risk registers, ensuring they are regularly updated.
Support key projects and programmes to ensure that key risks are identified, assessed and mitigated & reported.
Internal Audit
Ownership of internal audit action monitoring. Liaising with stakeholders to ensure that audit recommendations are actioned.
Review, analyse and compile monthly reports & dashboards for the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leaders identifying Audit performance trends across the organisation
Compile Reporting & dashboards for contribution towards Audit & Risk Committee Papers
Other Finance & Efficiency Tasks
~ Whilst initial focus is on risk management this role support the finance and risk function and could be asked to support other functional activities across the directorate such as; process payments, month end, finance reporting, process improvements.
Use initiative to improve performance by identifying and solving problems and issues.
Good commercial acumen and awareness.
Good report writing skills

Buy-in to risk and internal audit approach from employees and managers
Timely implementation of audit recommendations
Timely updates to risk registers
Timely delivery of risk & audit reports
Supporting the implementation of a risk management system
Interest in learning about Risk, audit, data analysis and quality evaluation
Comfortable working in a mix of remote and in-office settings
