Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist

Are you looking for a change? Are you interested in the development of mental health services in primary care? We are looking for someone who is dedicated to the future of the NHS, who is dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a psychological therapist or clinical / counselling psychologist to support the development of an effective treatment pathway across primary care services within the South West Division Primary Care Networks (PCN). This is one of a number of new posts which have been developed across Hampshire as a result of significant investment and a commitment to develop psychologically informed care across the PCNs.

In this role, you will help us develop and evaluate our enhanced mental health service across the PCNs in the South West Division. You will offer supervision, training and reflective practice to staff within the service. You will also devote time to direct clinical work including specialist psychological assessments, formulations, groups and individual therapy.

The post could be appointed either as a band 7 preceptorship towards an 8a role or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly. We are able to put a development plan in place to support applicants wishing to be considered for a preceptorship.

This post would also be suitable for someone about to qualify as an Applied Psychologist and who will be registering with the Health Care Professions Council.

Main duties of the job

You will be a valued member of staff within Southern Health and have access to all the support and resources that this entails as well as becoming a key member of the primary care mental health team across the South West Division PCNs. You will have the opportunity to engage with your local community and make links with multiple stakeholders across the wider system. You will be given opportunities to develop your skills in leadership and management, with a view to influencing the development of mental health services in primary care in the longer term.

We promote our staff's professional development, including through supervision and training. Flexible working arrangements are possible, including some remote working according to clinical need.

As a Trust we have strong academic links and an excellent research profile. We were recently ranked number one nationally for Top Research Locations. This role would offer the successful candidate good opportunities to forge research links and develop a programme of evaluation and research in primary care mental health.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and keen to increase the diversity of our team.
