Bootle Merseyside, United Kingdom Spencer Clarke Group Full time

Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 3 Student)
Location: Bootle, Liverpool
Employment Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (Potentially until July 2025)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:45pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role:
We are seeking a calm, patient, and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a male student in Year 3 with global developmental delay and low ability. This full-time role involves working closely with the student to provide tailored, one-on-one support throughout the school day. The position is expected to continue until at least July 2025, with the potential for extension.

The ideal candidate will have a compassionate and understanding approach, able to create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages the student's development at their own pace. Experience with special educational needs, particularly global delay, is highly desirable, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to make a positive difference.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to the student during lessons, helping them engage with the curriculum and complete tasks suited to their ability level.
Assist with implementing the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP), adapting strategies to support their specific needs.
Encourage and support the student's social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and develop life skills.
Create a calm and structured learning environment that allows the student to feel safe and supported.
Work closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to monitor progress, provide feedback, and adjust strategies as needed.
Support the student during break times, ensuring their safety and helping them engage positively with their peers.
Assist with any personal care needs if required.

Requirements:
Full-time availability from 8:45am to 3:45pm, Monday to Friday.
A calm, nurturing, and patient approach, with the ability to form a trusting relationship with the student.
Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly global delay or developmental delays, is desirable but not essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents.
The ability to remain consistent and positive, even when faced with challenges.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

What We Offer:
A supportive and collaborative working environment.
Opportunities for professional development and further training.
The chance to make a significant impact on the learning and development of a child with additional needs.
Competitive salary based on experience.
