  Job Purpose:

To provide an exceptional applicant experience, from enquiry to enrolment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To review all student applications (from UK and international students for college, undergraduate and postgraduate courses) and make decisions in line with UCB’s entry requirements, admissions policy and service level agreement. This post will primarily focus on processing applications for our Sixth Form Centre, but the post holder will support the rest of the team at key times of the year.
  • Organise and conduct admissions interviews, support applicants during the process and coordinate post-interview communications, liaising with academic staff and ensuring timescales and processes are aligned with student expectations.
  • Liaise with academic staff on applications where academic decision is required.
  • Proactively engage with all procedures used for the admission of students to UCB programmes, making recommendations on actions to streamline processes.
  • To process student enquiries, offering exceptional customer service to encourage conversion to applications.
  • To provide admissions support during student enrolment, ensuring positive student experience.
  • To apply working knowledge of qualifications, policies, procedures, and systems, providing an expert point of guidance to academic colleagues
  • To work closely with the team to coordinate the day-to-day processes and prioritisation of tasks to ensure deadlines are met and the work is of a high standard.

  • Use initiative to resolve any problems that arise to ensure applicant satisfaction.

  • Undertake a range of applicant support activities, including telephone call campaigns, emails, web chats, and face to face visits.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively within your department, sharing expertise and contributing to the development of the department operational plan.
  • Create a positive image of the University by being responsive, prompt, and courteous when responding to requests or enquiries from customers.
  • Liaise with applicants to guide them through the application process, ensuring that they have all the information they require regarding the process, programmes, and the University.
  • Ensure all student admissions practices comply with all current internal and external admissions and quality assurance policies.
  • Provide admissions expertise at recruitment events such as open/applicant days and progression events.
  • Provide basic reports on admissions (e.g. applications by course) as requested.
  • Actively support with the organisation and planning of enrolment and induction to ensure a positive student experience.
  • Ensure practice is in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Commit to upholding the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

Experience 

  • Excellent administrative experience and ability to work across various online systems. 
  • Experience working in a customer-focused role within an educational setting. 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient IT skills, including use of Office 365 package.
  • Confident and effective communicator (written and verbal), using a range of methods including telephone and social media.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines effectively managing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a team.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths. 
  • Evidence of post-16 study success i.e. A-Levels, BTEC, FdA degree or similar.

Training & Professional Development:

  • Evidence of relevant professional development and willingness to participate in any other training deemed necessary for the role.

Other:

  • Flexible approach to work including a willingness to work outside of ‘core’ hours including some evenings and weekends when required (eg open days and attending recruitment events)
  • An understanding of the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda in the context of further and higher education.
