An excellent opportunity for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join Swindon Talking Therapies.


You should have a real interest of working with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and with primary health care professionals seeking to improve care and treatment. You will need excellent communication skills and ideally have proven experience of working in the Primary Care setting. You will be involved with, and receive, ongoing in-service training and supervision.


PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) qualification is required or working towards to be accredited within 6 months.

The post holder will work within Swindon Talking Therapies services to provide high-volume low-intensity interventions using brief cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to clients presenting with mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety.

The post holder will work within the BSW Talking Therapies services to provide high-volume low-intensity interventions using brief cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to clients presenting with mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety. To deliver a minimum of 20 hours a week (pro rate for part-time) of direct clinical work, consisting of assessment and treatment and spanning a variety of formats (1:1, cCBT, courses, telephone, video and face-to-face)
To adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimize waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient
To provide a fast response, stepped-care, primary care psychology service, under supervision to patients of GPs at nominated surgeries
To undertake clientcentred interviews that identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery, and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others
To complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service
To work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach
To assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process
To operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognizes and respects diversity
To liaise with training providers as appropriate
To maintain clinical record in line with service guidance
To complete IAPT and LTHC clinical measures, patient outcome and patient satisfaction measures in line with service policy

To participate in the BSW Talking Therapies service business and professional meetings as required
To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directives of the Department, Service and Trust
To maintain and further develop high standards of psychology practice through co-operative work with other practitioners and psychologists and involvement in professional audit
To support the Head of Service in the development and implementation of effective Clinical Governance across the Psychology Service
To participate in liaison meetings with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Health Teams as appropriate
To meet with the link worker from Primary Care Liaison Service as appropriate
To enter date on surgery computer and IAPTUS data systems
To undertake mandatory and in-house training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise
To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directions of the department, service and Trust
Qualification as a PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) OR eligible for accreditation with the BPS/BABCP as a PWP OR eligible for accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP and registration with the relevant professional body


Training in CBT


Proven experience of working effectively with adults who have experienced a mental health problem
Awareness of stepped care approaches.
Understanding of common mental health problems and their management in primary care.

Own full driving license with access to vehicle that can be used for work purposes
