We are currently seeking a senior Software Engineer on a permanent basis to work as part of a small agile tech team, to take ownership of a suite of bespoke applications for a global leader in the Leisure & Travel industry. This can be a remote role with the very occasional office visits (based in West Sussex). To start as soon as possible.

As the lead engineer, you will take ownership of business-critical in-house applications, managing the day-to-day operations of key platforms that drive the organisation’s success.

This dynamic role, within a small but agile tech team, requires a diverse skill set in development, coupled with experience in AWS cloud infrastructure, API integrations, and the ability to translate business requirements and strategy into technical solutions.

Role responsibilities: As a Senior Software Engineer you will be responsible and require previous experience of:

  • Taking ongoing ownership, support, and enhancement of business-critical platforms, ensuring continuous improvement and optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for platform enhancements and innovations based on business needs.
  • Partnering with the tech team and business leaders to define the future strategy and evolution of key applications.
  • Working with existing suppliers to assess requirements, create new integrations, and explore potential new suppliers to support business growth.
  • Proactively investigating and resolving application issues, working closely with Infrastructure and operational teams to drive continuous improvements.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying platform changes in collaboration with the Test Lead.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation related to the platforms.
  • Providing necessary training materials to support the business.
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and making informed recommendations for their adoption.

Technical Experience required:

  • Front-End & Back-End Development: Tech stack for key applications include: Node.js/Nest.js, TypeScript, ReactJS. Other applications include: .NET, Blazor, WebForms, Telerik. - Must have demonstrable experience of Node.js at least (others desirable).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: The systems are deployed in AWS so knowledge of AWS environment and Infrastructure as Code (any DevOps experience) is highly desirable.
  • Databases: MS SQL Server, Postgres or other DB experience
  • API: Experience with API integrations.
  • Testing & Quality: Experience of testing in collaboration with test Lead.
  • Agile Processes.
  • Monitoring & Support : Familiarity with application monitoring and support.
  • Code Management : Oversee version control, environment setup, and deployment of software.
