Resource Base Teacher

As a Resource Base Teacher at St. Paul's, you will work with children who have complex communication and interaction needs. Your role will be to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, delivering tailored education programmes that meet the specific needs of each pupil. You will work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to support the holistic development of our pupils. You will be part of anextremely supportive staff teamthat collaborates closely to ensure the best outcomes for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and creative lessons that support the diverse needs of pupils with complex communication and interaction difficulties.
- Differentiate teaching to accommodate individual learning styles, abilities, and communication methods, ensuring all pupils areReady, Respectful, and Safein the classroom.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes pupils emotional well-being and personal growth.
- Assessment and Progress:
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupils progress using a variety of assessment tools to ensure appropriate educational targets are set and met.
- Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and communicate with parents and carers to share pupils achievements and next steps.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, support staff, and external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists) to ensure a collaborative approach to meeting pupils' needs.
- Support and mentor teaching assistants assigned to the Resource Base, ensuring effective teamwork and consistent implementation of strategies.
- Classroom and Behaviour Management:
- Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment that upholds our school rules ofReady, Respectful, Safe.
- Implement behaviour management strategies that promote positive communication, interaction, and social skills development.
- Professional Development:
- Stay up to date with best practices in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and participate in regular training and CPD opportunities.
- Engage with the wider school community and contribute to whole-school initiatives such as OPAL and Forest School learning, promoting outdoor play and exploration where appropriate.
- For the right candidate, there is potential totake on a leadership rolewithin the Resource Base, helping to shape its development and influence its future direction.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience or a strong interest in teaching pupils with complex needs, particularly in communication and interaction.
- Passionate about making a difference to childrens lives and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Strong understanding of child-centred approaches to education, SEND strategies, and differentiated teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies.
- Creative, patient, and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances within the classroom.
- Committed to upholding our school values ofkindness, creativity, and pridein everything you do.
- Leadership experience or a desire to take on leadership responsibility would be an advantage.
