Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
Band 7 – Development Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an innovative and supportive CAMHS Learning Disabilities Team. This is a development role with progression to the band 8a upon successful completion of a preceptorship programme. We are looking for someone who likes to have diversity in their job, is interested in working with young people and their families with complex difficulties, and who likes to think creatively and flexibly about what therapeutic interventions would be useful and effective for young people with learning disabilities. Although this role is part-time, there is an opportunity to increase hours within the core CAMHS team.
You would be part of the small but dynamic Psychology team who have a significant role in transforming the psychological interventions being offered to children and young people. There would be ample opportunity to undertake further training in specialist psychological interventions, current training opportunities include (but are not limited to) Family approaches, CBT-P, trauma focused CBT, DBT, DDP, Theraplay and NVR. This role would also enable opportunity to gain skills and experience in undertaking assessments and different psychological interventions for children with disabilities and their families. We are committed to supporting all of the Psychology team to use their skills and training to offer training and consultation to other professionals and to provide leadership, supervision and clinical expertise to other team members and support individuals’ professional development.
We are passionate about improving services for children and young people with learning disabilities and having a key role in service developments that better meet the needs of young people. The CAMHS team is a strong and supportive team and has excellent structures to offer regular supervision and has a strong ethos of delivering high quality evidence based psychological therapies and interventions. This post is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Psychologist registered with HCPC to begin an exciting career in a CAMHS setting. The successful candidate would be supported to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
