Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is a newly established service , working in a number of schools and education settings across the borough.
An exciting opportunity has therefore arisen for the recruitment of Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner's (EMHP), Children's Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP's) In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the EMHP role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors.
Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis based within HMR and will play a key role as members of the Mental Health Support Team, who will have the responsibility for delivering schools' overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.
Potential candidates will have already successfully completed the HEE commissioned 1yr 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' course or the equivalent 'Children's Wellbeing Practitioner' or 'Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner' course.
You will support staff in schools and colleges to help the whole system develop an understanding of how to work together to improve health and mental wellbeing. - Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people, with mild to moderate mental health problems, in education settings.
- Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services.
- Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify, and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
- Working with and within educational environments to afford better access to specialist mental health services.

- Qualification from PWP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or
- an experienced and qualified graduate mental health worker with a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Mental Health Care
- Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
- Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
- Psychology or other health related postgraduate degree
- BABCP accreditation
- Undergraduate experience
- Experience of routine outcome monitoring
- Experience of working in the local community
- Evidence of working in the local community
- Experience of working as a psychological wellbeing practitioner / graduate mental health worker in a primary care setting
- Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits and employment systems
- Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
- Ability to meet agreed / specified service targets
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Demonstrates high standards in verbal and written communication Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
- Excellent IT skills
- Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
- Ability to provide services in a variety of settings
