Newport, United Kingdom Vertical Aerospace Full time

Our Mission At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky. We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030. What To Expect As Technical Programme Manager for Hybrid Powertrain, you won't just track progress -you'll own the successful delivery of certified, flight-ready hardware. This is a role for a proactive, technically astute leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, programme governance, and cross-functional delivery. You'll sit at the heart of our Demonstrator and VX4 Certification programmes, driving complex systems integration from concept through to manufacturing. You'll act as the critical interface between the Hybrid Powertrain team and the Programme Office - ensuring that plans are measurable, dependencies are well managed, and delivery is aligned to business priorities. What You'll Do Own, coordinate and manage detailed project plans using Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with the overall VX4 Integrated Master Schedule Use Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) to track daily tasks and deliverables, surfacing risks, blockers and critical path items Act as the primary link between the Hybrid team and Programme Office, translating technical updates into actionable, insight-driven reports Report on progress and resource usage through variance analysis, maturity tracking, and milestone status updates Support the Head of Hybrid with spend tracking, cost centre management, and forecasting Help engineering leads estimate and plan resource needs, supporting standardisation and consistency across product teams Build compelling business cases to address resource gaps or delivery risks Champion project governance, driving proactive risk management and formal change control processes What You'll Bring Hands-on experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering programmes through design, test, and manufacturing Strong skills in Microsoft Project and Atlassian tools for scheduling, reporting and collaboration Solid understanding of project governance including risk management, change control and stakeholder reporting Experience supporting cost centre planning and spend tracking Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels A proactive approach: you anticipate issues, rally the right people, and resolve blockers efficiently Experience building realistic, measurable plans that balance accountability with flexibility Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualisation principles A degree in Engineering, Project Management or a relevant technical discipline What can you expect from us? We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace. Working at Vertical isn't your average role but for those seeking a challenge, a flexible, supportive organisation and an incredible team; working here is an opportunity to do the best work of your career. Our approach promotes ingenuity and courage, while our environment builds success through diligence in safety and being open in the way we work. The only way we're going to assure the next chapter of aviation history is by working as a team, relentlessly, towards our goal. Our Benefits Our people matter - we're not going anywhere without them. Which is why our company benefits go beyond the essentials. 26 days holiday, plus bank holiday 5 extra days per year to buy (or sell)5 extra days holiday when you get married or enter a civil partnership Additional 4% of your salary to spend on extra benefits Award-winning digital health and wellbeing service (Help@Hand) Company performance based bonus - rewarding company and individual performance Company Share Scheme - open to every Vertical employee Company Pension Scheme - 5% and we match it Breakfast on us, every day We may just be the hardest job you've ever had, but we're confident it will be the most rewarding.
