Job Description

PLATF9RM, Brighton & Hove’s largest independent coworking community of businesses and creative entrepreneurs, is seeking a Events Programmer for an 11-month maternity leave cover, beginning late March/early April.

As we are constantly evolving, there is also potential for there a longer term position elsewhere in the business when the maternity cover ends.

This dynamic and highly creative role offers an opportunity to significantly contribute to a period of growth and development throughout 2024.

As the Events Programmer, your responsibilities will include curating a well-attended, inspiring, innovative, inclusive, and diverse events program for the current PLATF9RM community, as well as expanding our community by driving lead flow and attracting new members.

You will research, create, and manage popular events that reflect current happenings in the local and global community, ensuring we stand out from our competitors.

Your role will also involve fostering and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships and collaborations to increase PLATF9RM's visibility within Brighton, Hove, and Sussex. This will continue to establish us as a cornerstone of the local community through partnerships and collaborations with local charities, councils, and like-minded businesses.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Events Programming

  • Ownership of the PLATF9RM Events Calendar, which includes:

- PLATF9RM Member event

- PLATF9RM Brand events

- Approved Partner events

  • Plan and execute events in line with the Event Strategy & overall Marketing Strategy, that are on brand and bring value to both our current members and the wider community; for example brand building events such as conferences, panel discussions, networking events, community events and cultural events
  • Be aware of the latest cultural and business trends to help inform the events programme and always on the lookout for new exciting speakers and workshop leaders.
  • Full responsibility for the events budget, ensuring that it remains in line with company goals
  • Network with current and prospective partners and members of PLATF9RM to generate new event booking leads and opportunities, and leverage our community to build future event ideas that will attract new members.

Events Management

  • Be responsible for our events calendar and liaise with the operational & hospitality teams to ensure relevant rooms are booked, events are staffed
  • Produce detailed proposals for events (including timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing and budgets) use for handovers to the operational team
  • Responsible for staffing events and having full running of the events rota. You’ll also be expected to train staff on events procedures with the help of the Hospitality & Events Manager.
  • Host all PLATF9RM brand events ensuring the smooth running of the event
  • Produce post-event evaluation to inform future events
  • Gather member feedback from all PLATF9RM events and communicate needs to the
  • Marketing team
  • Work with the Hospitality & Events Manager to coordinate suppliers and all event logistics (for example, staffing, catering, travel)
  • Ensure all health and safety and food regulations are adhered to
  • Responsible for creating a promotion plan and execute marketing activity to ensure all events are well attended with support and guidance from the Marketing Team.
  • Manage all pre-event planning including organising guest speakers, catering, tech
  • Make sure that insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are followed
