Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Private Fostering Social Worker to work full time ( Fixed Term until October 2024) based in Medway.

The salary for this permanent Private Fostering Social Worker job is up to £41,567 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of Private Foster Carers, including background checks and home visits. Consider arrangements and make timely decision about their suitability in line with statutory timescales. Ensure that private fostering arrangements meet all legal requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to Private Foster carers to enhance their caregiving skills and understanding of the needs of the children in their care.
  • Monitor for well-being of children in Private Fostering placements. Regularly visit and assess the well-being of the children and Young People. Identify and address any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Private Fostering placements, assessments, and interactions with children and families and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as an advocate for the rights and needs of children in Private Fostering arrangements, working to ensure they receive the best possible care and support.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in the child’s life, such as schools, healthcare providers, and Local Authorities.
  • Promote the Private Fostering Service to colleagues within Medway as well as to external organisations and individuals. This will include delivering presentations, promoting publicity materials and representing the Service, at various meetings.
  • In conjunction with the Fostering Team Manager, to provide consultation, advice and support to Social Workers dealing with Private Fostering enquiries and referrals.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to private fostering, maintaining awareness of changes in legislation. Comply with the requirements of current legislation, guidance, and practice standards, in accordance with Children’s Social Care policies and procedures and Medway’s safeguarding procedures.

Requirements of this role:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • This post requires registration with the relevant health professional council/governing body (Social Care England).
