Due to maternity leave within our team, a rare and rewarding opportunity of a secondment for a specialist practitioner district nurse has arisen within the West Dorset District Nursing team in the Bridport and Lyme Regis Locality. This role would be responsible for the District Nursing teams aligned to the Jurassic PCN and the Bridport Locality Hub.


Responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.


Day-to-day management and leadership of the four district nursing teams and specialist practitioners and other staff in the multi-disciplinary team.


To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience.


Contribute to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives to meet the needs of local people.


Leadership and management of the West Dorset District Nursing teams including support to Virtual Ward development.


This is a key leadership role, leading and managing District Nursing teams, with line management responsibility for team leads, reporting to the Locality Manager, identifying and responding to both short and long term developments and demands, and providing an interface between the District Nursing service, Hub and the Primary Care network, developing strong relationships and attending relevant forums to represent the service.


This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Konwledge, Skills and Training
Degree/Diploma in District Nursing, Public Health, Nurse Practitioner or equivalent
Evidence of CPD including training and reflective practice
Ability to lead a team to maintain a high stand of care provided to our patients in their homes and in residential care

Knowledge and understanding of current national and government issues relating to community services
Ability to identify staff training needs and promote personal/professional

Personal Qualities/ Attributes
Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.
