Purpose of the role Colas Ltd. have an exciting opportunity for a Structures Project Supervisor to join the team based in Portsmouth, PO6 1TA. Reporting to the, PFI Project Manager you will be responsible for planning, organising, reviewing RAMS, and delivering the works on site for Portsmouth's structural assets, to schedule, specification, and budget. You will scrutinise consultant reports and deliver recommendations for maintenance works. Main Responsibilities As a Structural Projects Supervisor your duties will include, but not limited to the following: carrying out safety audits as laid down by the line management and assist in the investigation of any reported safety or environmental incidents or near misses. You will ensure all work is carried out to Company Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards and to regularly communicate with staff and operatives on these matters. You will use BridgeStation, Inspections and the Structures Programme, initiate maintenance repairs, by means of Reactive, Proactive and Routine maintenance measures and ensure procedural requirements are in place so that the works can be accomplished professionally. A crucial part of this role is to maintain a good relationship with clients as you will be liaising with subcontractors to obtain quotations in line with company guidelines. You will arrange the issue of Sub-Contract documents and Purchase Orders associated with the proposed works and/or Periodic Maintenance Contacts (PMC). You will be responsible for overseeing the works as they are being carried out to ensure compliance with design, budget, and safety requirements. During and on completion of works obtain all completed documentation and inspect standard works with the Structures Engineer to sign off acceptance of completed works. You will be required to issue Works Orders when Colas Operation teams required to carry out maintenance to the Structure assets and obtain; Safety CDM Plans, Environmental CEMP plans and RAMS from contractors carrying out the works or for Colas, ensuring that Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all activities are received from sub- contractors or Pell Frischmann (Consultants) and in place before works commence. Additionally, you will respond to enquiries, complaints and reports associated with structures issues, communicated via CHAIN. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, arrange VRS repairs reported as damaged from Road Traffic Incident and update weekly/monthly reports and issue to the Operations Manager. To ensure that all operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself. To attend planned night works and emergency out of hours attendance. Carry out other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will demonstrate suitable relevant experience in management of Structures, a good structures knowledge and understanding of the principle and general inspections. A good understanding of health and safety and the environmental management and the requirements of CDM is essential. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following qualities and attributes: You will be committed to caring for people’s safety. To demonstrate that you have the ability to be a good team member and able to communicate technical ideas, ability to deliver work accurately on time and within budget. The candidate should be able to identify innovative activities and ability to identify improvements in structures asset management.
