The Digital Clinical Leads will work as part of a dynamic Chief Clinical Information Officer team. The role is responsible for supporting digital transformation for new digital solutions and upgrades to existing digital solutions across the Trust with clear collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as required. The postholder will have an understanding of digital systems and will support the efficient and effective management of the on-going EPR development, education, implementation and training of our NGH EPR.


We are seeking Digital Clinical Leads as follows:


1 x Digital Medicines (Pharmacy Professional)
10 x Medical colleagues - Consultants - 1 x PA each (Emergency Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Anaesthetics & Critical Care, Women's, Paediatrics, Surgery, Outpatients, Research and Innovation, Clinical Support Services, Haematology and Oncology)

The role is responsible for operating as a key member of the Chief Clinical Information Officer portfolio which focuses on ensuring there is clinical engagement at all levels of the Group Digital Strategy. The Digital Clinical Leads will work with multi-professional teams on improving patient care by leading audits, research and benefits realisation data collection, analysis and subsequent improvements to our processes.


They will work with members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospitals and at community venues, including all clinical colleagues, operational colleagues, administrative personnel and all teams within Digital and the EPR Programme.

To operate as a key member of the Chief Clinical Information Officer portfolio which focuses on ensuring there is clinical engagement at all levels of the Group Digital Strategy
Provide clinical advice and guidance to support the delivery of the programmes associated with the Group Digital Strategy including the NGH EPR
To support with the efficient and effective management of the on-going EPR development, education, implementation and training of our NGH EPR with our wider EPR programme team
To be responsible for supporting digital transformation for new digital solutions and upgrades to existing digital solutions across with clear collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as required

Lead ongoing implementation, development and optimisation of EPR with the wider EPR programme team
Work closely with all CCIOs, Digital Clinical Leads, Digital Clinical Facilitators and Transformation Specialists to ensure delivery of EPR
Co-ordinate the collection and dissemination of lessons learnt from projects to define optimal changes in subsequent processes and procedures
Support the digital clinical safety officer and promotion of clinical safety within all digital projects and programmes
Identify, assess and communicate the impact of risks to programmes and work with project managers and Transformation Specialists for project delivery against realistic timeframes
Promotes clinical and health intelligence systems capable of reporting measures to evaluate patient outcomes, to support research, and operational improvement across the continuum of care

Ensure that the education and developmental needs of staff are commissioned to meet the requirements of the Groups Digital Strategy. Contribute to the assessment of Digital Literacy with the Digital Training and Engagement Manager and Group CCIO
Actively seek views from multi-disciplinary, clinical, administrative and operational colleagues and teams in the development of high quality and innovative clinical information systems that assist clinicians in their delivery of care
Act as an advocate for digital solutions as an enabler for safe and effective care
Work with the Group CCIO and Digital Training and Engagement Manager to develop SOPs/FAQs for clinical engagement

Establish excellent relationships with Digital teams, staff at all levels and external bodies which will support the implementation of collaborative working through leadership, motivation and inspiration of others
To participate as a Digital Responder with the Digital teams and actively support all staff with digital queries
Provide leadership and direction across situations where highly complex ideas or concepts need to be conveyed and implemented across the organisation in easily understood language
Support the patient voice by working with trust/ group leads to continuously encourage digital volunteers and patient representation in line with the demographic of the population UHN serves

To work in partnership with wider system leadership structures in supporting collaboration across KGH and NGH and wider ICS/East Midlands Acute Provider Network
Challenge the clinical community to identify areas to try out new ideas in a safe way, seeking to define emergent approaches to digital delivery that can be implemented
Identify areas where innovative digital solutions would improve patient care and efficiencies and promote others to do the same
Promote the development and implementation of artificial intelligence within the Group to drive excellent patient care
Support digital research and innovation strategies

Education, Training & Qualifications
Educated to Masters level or equivalent level or equivalent experience working at a senior level in a complex environment

Member of British Computer Society (BCS)
Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership (NHS Digital Leadership Academy)
Postgraduate Qualification in Digital Systems or other area within technology
Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience in digital, leading implementation of complex digital programmes (for example EPR)
Experience in leading and managing delivery of effective, safe clinical system implementation with proven benefits for patient care using recognised methodologies
Experience of supporting digital transformation change, including as-is and to-be process mapping in a clinical setting
Proven experience of identifying innovative, complex digital solutions to address clinical needs
Extensive experience in clinical team management position and working at a manager level
Delivery of large projects or similar
Experience of management of significant contribution to complex digital projects
Broad experience across a range of digital applications
Supporting with risk management and incident investigation in association to quality governance
Working knowledge of relevant UK legislation relating to digital systems
Understanding of NHS legislation and regulatory standards within their profession
Experience in producing high quality documentation
Experience of managing senior stakeholders
Experience of creating capability programmes to support development of digital literacy within organisation
Experience of representing organisation at local, regional and national levels

Ability to assess and evaluate impacts of a plethora of simultaneous factors on overall healthcare delivery (e.g. policy change, technology change etc)
