Job Description

Please note this is a 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover).

As a Technology Lead working in the Essentra digital development team, you will be a passionate leader that thrives on delivering challenging projects in a fast-paced agile/scrum environment. You will guide the team technically and provide direction to aid the development of the core, critical software components and integrated systems. As well as managing a team, you will provide hands-on support utilising your development skills and experience to ensure the digital team has the relevant tools to succeed.

The role requires a high degree of collaboration with internal and external stakeholders where you will be responsible for the digital delivery, key decision making on technology as well as technical solutions and maintenance of Essentra’s digital applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the digital development team and providing direction in coding new features to improve performance & usage of our websites to contribute to digital delivery.
  • Providing hands-on support and working alongside the development team.
  • Hiring and onboarding the development team in Turkey.
  • Helping to shape product design in conjunction with teammates, architecture team and others.
  • Maintenance & break-fix of our production systems by delegating to the development team.
  • Peer reviews (code) to ensure the code quality and performance.
  • Working with digital operations, product, and product data team’s by providing them with technical support and solutions.
  • Organising and hosting the sprint ceremonies, and supervising the third party development team.

This is a hybrid role with expectation of working in either our Jarrow or Kidlington office 2-3 days per week.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in IT development, leading the technology and digital delivery.
  • Educated to degree level in computer science or a related subject.
  • Experience in supervising Technology service providers and agile project deliveries.
  • Experience in providing technical solutions/ideas for major technical issues (P1’s) and key technical decision making.
  • Experience in organising and hosting the sprint ceremonies for the timely delivery.
  • Experience in supervising the development team and being responsible for digital delivery.

Web development:

  • Java (version 8 and above preferably java 17 +), Spring Framework, Hibernate, MySQL, Solr
  • Hosting technologies – bare metal, virtualization, microservices and containerisation– Docker, Kubernetes / AKS
  • Experience using Cloud platforms such as Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP
  • Experience developing B2B and B2C e-commerce websites using custom code and packaged software such as ATG, Hybris, Magento, Broadleaf Commerce, Salesforce Commerce etc.
  • Online Payment Gateway – Stripe, Adyen, PayPal, Sagepay etc.
  • Clustering/Replication/ DR
  • Performance tuning and optimization
  • Integration with ERP software such Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Infor etc.

Other technologies:

  • Apache Camel, Rabbit MQ
  • Azure Integration Services - Service Bus/Logic Apps/Event Grid/Azure Functions/API Management
  • SFTP, Azure blob storage, CDN, DAM, Apache Camel
  • Redis Cache, Varnish, HazelCast, Hibernate L2, EHCache, Squid etc.
  • Automated testing frameworks for unit and performance testing – JMeter, Goose, Locust, Testrail, Cucumber etc.
  • CI/CD, Pipelines and DevOps – Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions etc.
  • Source code management tools – MS Team foundation, Github etc.
