An exciting opportunity has arisen for an able and dynamic CAMHS Specialist Community Clinical Nurse, to join our expanding and developing CAMHS Alliance Crisis Service. The post holder will provide an accessible, high-quality mental health assessment and intervention for children and young people that is sensitive to their cultural, ethnic, religious, contextual, family and developmental needs. The post holder will promote mental health, well-being and personal and family growth. The post holder will work as part of an MDT holding a clinical caseload and undertaking mental health assessments of children and adolescents presenting in crisis. You will be working with adolescents with behavioural, emotional and mental health needs often in complex family situations displaying a range of risk behaviours. In addition to providing direct work to families and young people, you will assist the CAMHS and/or paediatrics team with treatment planning and provide consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the young person. The post holder will have experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions. The post holder's skills will be supported and adapted to meet the needs of children and adolescents with mental health problems and their families if you do not have CAMHS experience.

Training in prevention and management of violence and aggression

Evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice
First or higher degree in appropriate subject area or equivalent post registration training and experience
Post registration training in CAMHS

oExperience of working in a number of ways i.e. assertive outreach, clinic based settings, home, school or other appropriate environments
oExperience of assessing risk and formulating safe and effective risk management plans

o Demonstrable experience of assessment and working therapeutically with children, adolescents and their families within a mental health setting
oDemonstrable experience working with young people with in a community CAMHS setting
oExperience of using therapeutic skills, such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Work
oExperience of management of child protection emergencies
oExperience of therapeutic work with children and families where abuse or neglect has occurred
oKnowledge of legislation relevant to the Children's Act 2004, Mental Health Act 1983 & Safeguarding Guidelines
oKnowledge of the various assessment tools used in CAMHS oKnowledge of the Care Plan Approach

oKnowledge of the legal issues relating to consent and capacity in children and young people
oAn awareness and understanding of the issues facing, children, adolescents and their families

oSkills in communicating with children, adolescents and their families or carers
oFlexible approach oGood team player oAble to manage risk oA good understanding of, and ability to use, clinical supervision
oAbility to contain the anxieties of severely unwell young people and their parents.
