We are looking to hire a skilled Private Chef for a South Asian family in St. Johns Wood, London. The responsibilities will include planning meals, shopping for ingredients, and preparing dishes for the clients according to their specific dietary requirements and taste preferences.

You will need to have a deep familiarity with various types of cuisines and cooking methodologies. You should be comfortable with cooking dishes in a variety of styles especially around a pan Asian and Middle Eastern palette with a high degree of quality. The family understands food and flavour well and are clear in what they need. A mature chef looking for a long-term part-time role and willing to adapt and innovate, would thrive with them.

Skills Required

  • Formal culinary training
  • Proven experience in a similar role is valued. You should have worked in private homes for at least 5 years
  • Experience with specific medical dietary requirement
  • Consult with clients to identify their dietary needs and taste preferences and plan weekly meals that align with those requirements. The meals will be prepared in the client’s kitchen from start to finish
  • Shop for ingredients
  • Ability to use a wide variety of cooking tools and techniques
  • Presenting the food aesthetically
  • Ability to create high-quality dishes from a variety of culinary traditions
  • Be comfortable cooking and plating for formal events and parties
  • Leave heating instructions for clients to follow as necessary
  • Batch cooking simple dishes for young children
  • Basic recipe development
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment. Clean and sanitise your work area and tools before and after cooking
  • Be mindful of the budget and avoid wastage
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work with other staff in the kitchen
  • Be able to commute to central London

Family Requirements

On a weekly basis the family would like the following to be cooked:

  • 4 x lunches for 4 people (Monday to Thursdays)
  • 2 x Dinner for 4 people (Tuesday and Thursdays)
  • 3 x Batch cooking for children
  • A variety of healthy snacks and bakes for the family (pastry experience required)

Start time would be 9.30/10:00 am till about 2:00 pm (this is flexible). The ideal Private chef must have great attitude , experience, and flexibility for this role.
