What you will do in your working day

Learning on the job technical Accountancy and tax skills. Supporting Accountant with preparation of Accounts, preparation of journals, client relations, preparation of engagement letters, book-keeing, payroll, offering client training and support and preparation of CIS and VAT return submissions.

What you will do in your working day:
  • Communication and liaison with clients at all levels
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly bookkeeping and preparation VAT returns
  • Assist with preparation of Self-Assessment Returns by preparing working papers for review by Accountant
  • Assist with preparation of year end accounts and tax filingsby preparing working papers for review by Accountant
  • Preparation of Weekly and monthly payroll submissions
  • Preparation of monthly CIS returns
  • Assist with booking client appointments and onboarding for newly engaged clients
  • Offering support and regularly contacting clients to help support their accounting
  • Manage, organise and update relevant data using database applications
  • Handling Client queries face to face as well as over the phone
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks
  • Plus other duties consistent with the grade as directed.
The training you will be getting

The Apprentice will undertake the L2 Finance/Accounts Assistant apprenticeship. This includes completion of the L2 AAT professional qualification, and Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

Alongside this the Apprentice will complete on and off-the-job training to further develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

The training will occur both within the workplace, and at a specified training centre to be confirmed.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

After completing the apprenticeship, subject to employer approval and completion of studies, a full time post can be offered with prospects of developing the role further. Eg; Accountant
