Due to continued growth we now need to recruit an Estimator or a Senior Estimator who has experience pricing future work, extra scope and variations, to work on the Asset Operational Maintenance and Response (AOMR) Framework, as part of the Environment Agency Framework and the Canal and Rivers Trust Framework. Works may be Client or Contractor designed up to the value of £1.5million. The role will involve both the initial pricing of schemes both direct award and competitively tendered, along with the commercial management of those schemes through to completion. Location to be Tamworth as a base, with some travel to Huntingdon, Peterborough, or similar. There will be the occasional need to attend meetings and reviews at head office in Ipswich. This role will report directly to the Pre-Contracts Director. Other main duties include:

  • Manage and co-ordinate information for bids and tenders within designated area
  • Researching materials, equipment and labour costs
  • Gain and understanding of what the client’s needs are
  • Collecting quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Planning job timescales
  • Assessing and advising on commercial risk
  • Preparing and submitting quotations for work
  • Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities
  • Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts
  • Clearly convey the financial elements of a tender to site staff at tender handover
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures
  • Involvement in review/ input to quality submissions
Are you the person we are looking for? A construction background and an understanding of estimating techniques is required as well as a sound knowledge of spreadsheets. The role will involve detailed analysis of direct and indirect costs along with regular reporting on the progress of tenders at all stages, whilst working to strict deadlines in order to achieve desirable results.
