Applications for the position of Deputy Director of Planning & Development for the Town of Plymouth will be accepted in the Human Resources Department. This position consists of professional, technical, and administrative work in administering planning and land use controls and coordinating and shaping both the short-range and long-range physical, social, and economic development and improvement plans of the Town of Plymouth. Works under the administrative direction of the Director of Planning and Development and may be designated to serve as Department Head in the absence of the Director of Planning and Development. Directly and partially supervises Planning and Development Staff. Work is generally performed under typical office conditions; occasionally, work is conducted in the field with exposure to various weather conditions and hazardous conditions associated with construction sites. Required to attend regular evening meetings with various town boards and committees. Some essential functions are assisting the Director of Planning and Development in directing and coordinating the planning and development activities within the Town of Plymouth, including land acquisition and management, conservation administration and enforcement, redevelopment, revitalization, and rehabilitation activities, historic preservation, economic development, and affordable housing administration. Supervises and assists in the administration of federal and state grant funds for housing programs, capital projects and public services.
Master’s degree in community planning or related field; eight years of progressively responsible experience in the municipal planning field, including experience directly related to land use controls, housing, federal grant programs;
