Job Overview – Director, Epidemiology
Direct and manage a team of epidemiology staff in collaboration with multidisciplinary global team to provide epidemiology leadership for sponsored global public health research programs to ensure quality, time and budget deliverables are met.
Work closely with clients and other internal functional groups by providing scientific leadership for real world studies on the full spectrum of study designs that may be applicable for global health actors, which include but are not limited to burden of disease studies, surveillance studies, infectious disease modeling, and comparative safety and effectiveness of treatments and vaccines. Provides senior epidemiology oversight. Leads the development of best practices in infectious disease epidemiology and global public health research and other internal initiatives
Serves as project director or partnership lead on client facing or internal projects. Manage programs and projects in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.
Authors protocols, reports, and other study documents with independent, critical thinking to ensure quality and completeness of output.
Reviews and provides relevant epidemiological input to statistical analysis plans and analysis output.
Independently generates scientific content and direction for business development proposals, early client engagement, workshops, and offering development.
Interacts with clients including attendance at bid defenses and other remote or on-site presentations and discussions.
Provides senior epidemiology oversight and review work of peers and junior staff in areas including study design, statistical methods, and infectious disease subject matter expertise
Review budgets for proposals and monitor budgets for contracted work to assure project completion within scope and budget; Helps to define and provide appropriate levels of professional development and training for staff.
Identifies and follows up on opportunities for business development through excellent project delivery, engaging key Public Health stakeholders and representing IQVIA externally through conference presentation.
Mentor, coach, and share subject matter expertise with others to help develop individuals and capabilities delivering world-class global public health solutions.
May manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems, and helping the department achieve its quality and finance goals.

Master’s Degree Graduate education in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, public health with concentration in epidemiology, or relevant scientific field and 10 years relevant experience (required) or
D. with 7 years relevant experience (preferred)
Direct line management experience for one or more years (preferred)
Sound methodological training in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology, public health with concentration in epidemiology, or related area relevant to global public health research.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, medical writing experience desired.
Ability to perform analyses and statistical programming in SAS, R, or other programming languages
Ability and interest in managing and supporting the development of one or more senior team members.
