This will be the first time we have ever taken on a Head of New Business, mainly due to the retirement of two company directors. With our experience and reputation, especially across our portfolio of well-known global brands, this is a great opportunity for an ambitious person who wants to be part of a new growth strategy.


We work regularly with global brands like DHL, Lenovo, CGI, Callaway, SAP, Microsoft and Syngenta. But our broader track-record across business, education and other public sector areas, theatre, sport, top agencies and broadcasters is immense.


Yet we’ve rarely engaged in traditional style sales and marketing. The quality of our work, reputation, the loyalty of our core client base, and a network of connections has adequately seen us through. But the world is changing fast and so has the way we must interact with it. After the economic uncertainties since Covid, we’ve kept a tight and small ship. Working remotely with occasional face to face get-togethers has suited our kind of work. Now we're ready to diversify and grow our business with the help of a Head of New Business.


We are looking for a well connected person who is familiar with our line of work. We want someone with charisma, drive and good presentation skills- and with a flair for identifying leads, driving engagement and presenting creative ideas in a way that business and public services can easily engage with. This may require presenting stories, case-studies or thought-leadership content across relevant social media (especially LinkedIn). It may also require networking or developing events or initiatives to engage with and influence prospective clients.


At times this will require reconnecting with clients we have not worked with for a while. But the main focus is to drive leads for new relevant organisations, big and small, who are looking for premium quality content production services and then seeing through the communication with prospective clients until we win projects.


This is a role that can be managed remotely with regular online meetups with 2020 Media colleagues. Occasionally there will be strategic face-to-face meetings too. When required, the Head of New Business will call on the support of the 2020 Media team to help provide marketing based content, or creative ideas.


Although this is a full-time position, we may be open to more flexible arrangements for people who have the right experience, connections and fresh ideas.


With recent changes in the way the company is run, there may be opportunities to broaden the role into a wider management responsibility- but this is not essential.


Responsibilities:


  • Identify suitable new business opportunities across industry sectors.
  • Find new and exciting ways to engage, influence and convert new clients.
  • Constantly look for creative ways to improve the new business and marketing functions.
  • Present and positioning the USP of 2020 Media to maximum effect.
  • Use market research to understand customer needs and industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of the creative landscape and competitive activity.
  • Identify events or networking opportunities to target prospective clients.
  • Creating a Business Library so that information is easily accessible, including, pitch decks, RFI bids and case studies.
  • Develop compelling value propositions that highlight the benefits of video production- e.g., via desks, social media, blogs, thought leadership events or initiatives etc.
  • Represent 2020 Media as the primary point of contact for prospective clients; understanding their needs and objectives.
  • Create ‘chemistry’ meetings to explore work opportunities.
  • Attend and lead presentations with prospective clients, wherever they are.
  • Identify and develop well presented RFI tender bids.
  • Retain communications with existing clients and offer new win-win ideas for new production projects.
  • Be involved in assessing the competitiveness and value of our client production rates.
  • Manage a new lead capture process for prioritising opportunities.
  • Lead and own the new business development plan with agreed targets.
  • Track the wins and losses and review performance, conversion rate and costs.


Required Experience, skills and character


  • Proven track record of new business development, income generation and meeting strategic targets- with a finger on the pulse of new business opportunities and trends.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of clients- including global clients.
  • A creative person capable of putting compelling project bids together and presenting them effectively- so good written and oral communication skills.
  • Focused, driven, charismatic and ambitious- with confidence to make every client relationship and project a success.
  • Hard-working, proactive, detail-orientated and highly-organised.
  • Well versed in 2020 Media’s products and services and can present these to prospective clients.
  • Confident in assessing a client brief to determine a match between the client objectives and 2020 Media’s capability to deliver on the brief.
  • Confident in knowing when to make an informed decision to say no to a client brief.
  • Skilled at relationship management; identifying prospects, responding to prospects and driving our bid to convert prospects into clients.
  • A good strategic thinker, with the ability to undertake strategic planning.
  • Strong influencing ability and gravitas for internal and external engagement. Skilled at establishing and building an empathetic and commercial relationship.
  • Someone who makes things happen and likes to be accountable.
  • A confident self-starter with a can-do attitude and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently, managing your own workload, deadlines and priorities.
  • Bring passion and energy to the team; always looking for ways to improve what we do and work better together.
  • A team player who shows willingness to support the agency and be collaborative. Someone that rolls their sleeves up and is happy to get stuck in.
  • Confidence to be able to deal with the most senior level stakeholders.

The successful candidate will work very close with the Head of 2020 Media, the Director of Production and their Executive Assistant & Finance/ Project Systems Controller.
