Role Overview: We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our design division. This role involves engaging with and designing for engineers and steelwork contractors, generating company specifications, and managing projects across various construction sectors in Scotland and the North of England. The position requires frequent visits to consulting engineers, contractors, and sites across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and sustainability advice and perform structural design calculations for new and existing projects.
- Conduct value engineering calculations for projects considering rival products/systems.
- Manage projects to ensure Westok products are specified and progressed by the steelwork contractor.
- Arrange and hold technical CPD seminars for engineers, architects, and main contractors.
- Develop and maintain a network of key contacts in the industry to seek out opportunities in traditional and new sectors.
- Promote the Advisory Service andcompany structural solutions.
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the analysis and design of structural steelwork to EC, BS, and other design codes.
- Understanding of technical, commercial, and sustainability aspects of building projects.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard structural steelwork software packages (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA Engineer, MasterSeries, Tekla Structures, REVIT).
- Familiarity with standard IT software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of sustainability in the construction industry.
- Experience with design or procurement of projects involving cellular and plated beams is advantageous.
- Knowledge of structural steelwork applications outside mainstream UK building structures (e.g., Modular, Temporary Works, Seismic, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Naval, Water, Transport industries) is beneficial.
