Construction Futures is a new initiative, created by construction employers, through the Construction Employers Federation, along with the employee representatives from the Unite and GMB Unions.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to increase engagement between Northern Ireland’s construction industry and education sector, fostering valuable opportunities for collaboration among industry, academia, and public sector partners. Successful outcomes will include enhanced engagement between the construction industry and educational organisations such as schools, colleges and universities, leading to increased collaborative projects, and ultimately promoting growth and innovation within Northern Ireland's construction sector and education systems.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

· This role requires creativity, teamwork, organization, and effective communication skills for outreach to diverse groups. It also requires a proficiency with social media platforms. You should be capable of managing multiple tasks and carrying out basic administrative processes to facilitate meaningful engagement, projects, campaigns, and events.


· You will assist in delivering a new ambitious industry-wide initiative, liaising with construction businesses and educational organizations to collaborate on exciting projects and initiatives. Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships is a key aspect of the role.


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

· Experience: The successful candidate should have 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role or utilizing the skills listed.


· Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication. Experience in public engagement or outreach, with the ability to act as an ambassador for the construction industry, effectively communicating its value and opportunities.



· Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent time management, decision-making, prioritization, and attention to detail.


· Technical Proficiency: Competence in organizing and creating information databases to support engagement activities with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


· Project Coordination: Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate logistics, and plan school, Further Education and Higher Education engagement projects tailored to the needs of the construction industry.



DESIRABLE CRITERIA

· Educational/Industry Background: A background within construction or education or engaging with formal educational and/or skills development or marketing, particularly in the fields of construction/engineering, would be desirable but not essential.


· Marketing and Social Media: Experience in utilizing social media to market industry opportunities and engagement initiatives.

· Interpersonal and Networking Skills: Ability to engage and interact effectively with individuals at all levels, fostering collaboration and support to stakeholders.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design and deliver Presentations: Present to diverse audiences, particularly in educational settings such as schools. Assist with social media campaigns to market industry opportunities and engagement initiatives.


· Organize and Create Information Databases: Develop and maintain databases to support engagement activities.


· Project Management: Organize and implement education engagement projects in line with construction industry needs. Assist with other employability programmes, where required, and ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


· Stakeholder Management: Manage and nurture relationships with all stakeholders

in both industry and education sectors. Act as the point of contact and communicate relevant project information to all participants.

· Issue Reporting: Report and escalate issues to senior management as needed.
