Job Description

We’re looking for an engaging, driven and highly organised Junior Buyer to join our team and help shape the future of online retail in the outdoor industry. This is a full-time position, based at our Bristol premesis: 35 Brookgate, Bristol, BS3 2UN.


Responsibilities

  • Use inventory planning tool to analyse data and trends to predict sales and profits and to assess the sales performance of different ranges
  • Plan and place replenishment orders for stock across a wide range of brands and products, to meet required stock levels
  • Prepare POs for suppliers and validate PO costs and discounts to ensure correct billing
  • Liaise with suppliers to place orders and establish lead times
  • Communicate with suppliers to promote accuracy and efficiency of the ordering process, the completeness of shipments, and on-time deliveries
  • Remain mindful of the time of year, including upcoming events or holidays, and the time that products have been available on the shelves
  • Work with the Ecommerce lead to push seasonal products and those which haven't sold or that we’re not replenishing, and replace it with a more profitable, popular or seasonally appropriate option
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager on coordinating arrival of product
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to buying function
  • Handle supply problems as they arise
  • Accompany senior buyers to meetings with brands, suppliers and distributors; maintain flexibility to travel up to 10%

What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years retail buying or ecommerce merchandiser experience
  • Previous experience with inventory planning tools or processes
  • Extremely detail-oriented; someone who is uncomfortable with even the smallest inconsistency or imperfection
  • A deep understanding of spreadsheets and data analysis
  • Supremely organised with an ability to highlight the key challenges and how to meet them
  • A use of critical thinking skills to improve sales and product visibility
  • An understanding of e-commerce business practices
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including strong oral and written articulation skills
  • A creative problem solver who demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking
  • A proactive and highly motivated team player
  • Meets the very highest standards of integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to multitask with solid organisational and time-management skills
