About Us:

Stamford Stone co. is a family-run business established in 1997, with a workforce of approx. 50. Based outside of Stamford, Lincolnshire, we own and run several local quarries and have worked on some quintessentially British buildings such as the Houses of Parliament and Cambridge and Oxford University.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:


This is a busy and multi-faceted sales role involving responsibilities such as:


Business Development

  • Achieve business growth and hit sales targets working with the sales team, made up of the Showroom Sales Assistant, Sales Administrator and Key Account Manager
  • Identify opportunities with prospective clients and opportunities to upsell to existing clients
  • Create and nurture excellent business relationships with both new and existing clients
  • Act as company representative by attending relevant networking events and business exhibitions as required (UK & Europe)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuous product development and product training


Customer Service

  • Ensure that visitors, prospective and existing customers are extended the highest levels of customer service at all times and by all members of the sales team
  • Provide accurate advice on the suitability of all products for which full product training will be given
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records via all company systems, particularly the Company CRM system
  • Follow up on quotes with customers by phone and email to convert enquiries into sales
  • Conduct on-site visits to customers as required (Company pool car available)
  • Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and promptly
  • Resolve customer complaints, liaising with colleagues and the General Manager
  • Liaise with contractors and tradespeople (B2B retail)


Brand & Showroom Image

  • As a Company ambassador, take responsibility for delivery and maintaining the company image to the highest standards
  • Liaise with marketing suppliers to maintain the websites and promote our products to our target market via social and digital channels


Financial and Reporting

  • Ensure all customer payments are taken in line with data protection and company policy
  • Ensure all sales are accurately recorded in the CRM system
  • Report on KPIs, targets and performance of the sales team, presenting sales, revenue and expense reports to the Directors


Line Management and Sales

  • Take responsibility for line management of the Showroom Sales Assistant
  • Provide guidance, encouragement and mentoring to the other members of the sales team (Sales Administrator and Key Account Manager), helping to develop their skills and techniques in sales.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain industry product knowledge and awareness continuously
  • Involvement in sourcing new products
  • Support and assist in the implementation of any new procedures
  • Attend training and sales courses as required to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills
  • Support other staff as may be reasonably required from time to time


From time to time you will be asked to carry out duties outside your normal job role, to enable the smooth running of the business.


About You:


The successful candidate will have;


  • Proven track record with an ability to hit sales targets
  • Proven ability to line manage colleagues, providing support and guidance as part of the sales function
  • Able to plan and execute sales activities without close management – this role offers autonomy in managing the showroom and retail brand
  • Ability to spot and upsell opportunities as well as respectfully overcome objections
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A background in delivering exceptional customer service standards in a sales or service environment


Education: Maths and English to GCSE level A-C or equivalent is preferred


Experience: Experience working in the stone or façade industry would be beneficial. Knowledge of CRM systems would be useful however training will be provided where necessary.
