Role: Network Engineer (Cisco)

Our customer is a technology led, high-profile Public-Sector organisation, spread across a large area of the Home Counties. Their large IT function delivers a range of critical ICT services to support services in local communities.

They are seeking an additional Network Engineer to join a busy and friendly Network Engineering team providing Network support and improvements to the wider network estate. The focus for this role will be to primarily support network issues and deliver some networking projects across the estate.

Network issues are preferably resolved remotely but when needed, the Network Engineers need to travel to site to resolve the issue or meet vendors / suppliers providing connectivity services etc. Therefore, candidates need to be happy with travel to sites across the region when required for planned network tasks to resolve issues.

About you:

  • 3+ years' experience working in network engineering with Cisco IOS ideally including CCNA certification
  • Clean and current, full UK driving license and able to work in a hybrid role with regular travel to sites in the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire counties between 3 and 4 days per week. Ideally you will currently be working in a similar role with regular need to travel to sites.
  • Strong communication skills and ideally experience of working closely with connectivity vendors / suppliers for items such as power connections, WiFi, comms rooms, Cisco switches etc.
  • Highly organised and experienced in making sure services arrive and are installed as per project plans.
  • Good troubleshooting skills to investigate, diagnose, and rectify issues relating to network connectivity services.
  • Great communication skills, customer focused, flexible, adaptable, problem solver
  • You will need to possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and be a great problem solver
  • SD-WAN experience would be ideal
  • Any network monitoring tools experience would be ideal (ie SolarWinds)
  • Any cloud-based networking experience would be a bonus
  • ** You will need to have lived and worked in the UK for at least 5 years in order to meet the security vetting requirements for this role **
