Ophthalmic Nursing Role Description

We are currently seeking a motivated trained ophthalmic nurse to join us from January 20th 2025.

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Ophthalmic Nurse at Clinica London. The Senior Ophthalmic Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality ophthalmic nursing care to patients, assisting ophthalmologists during procedures, conducting patient assessments including ocular coherence tomorgraphy, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy and pentacam, plus cataract biometry. The person will dispense eye and skin medications, and educate patients on eye care. The role will also involve collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. There are 12 Ophthalmic Consultants, 4 Orthoptists, 2 Reception, 2 Accounts and 4 medical secretary administrative support. There is currently one other experienced ophthalmic nurse. We are also seeking to appoint an Ophthalmic technician.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience in ophthalmology nursing, including assisting in minor theatre setting and intra-ocular AntiVEGF injections
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and treatments
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the UK
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a relevant field
  • Certification in Ophthalmic Nursing (optional but beneficial)


Essential Skills include caring, empathic, gentle but highly practical and organised nature.
