It also gives exposure to senior government department officials, communications industry leaders and academic professionals, all key stakeholders in the work of UKTL as you help UKTLs leaders to coordinate meetings and briefings.

UKTL is seeking an experienced Cyber security Engineer to join the team responsible for keeping the organisation secure, who will contribute by maintaining and implementing technical controls from the endpoint, across the network and into the cloud. The role involves operational support, enabling project delivery and SOC activities, as well as ensuring system vulnerabilities are addressed through effective patch and lifecycle management across a diverse portfolio of systems within a corporate and scientific environment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and acting upon security alerts generated by tooling.
  • Monitor the environment for potential threats, vulnerabilities and indicators of compromise.
  • Act as an escalation point for other members of the security team, providing assistance and mentoring where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development of SOC procedures and documentation.
  • Assist with remediation activities.
  • Understanding Threat Intelligence and its use.
  • Produce new workflows for automation tools.

Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week with an option of hybrid working.

We strive to offer a great work life balance - if you are looking for full time, part time or flexible options, we will try to make this work where business possible. This will be dependent on the kind of role you do and part of the business you work in.
