About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Lead Engineer to join our team at BT Security.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of state-of-the-art security tools, working closely with our threat hunting teams to provide the necessary tools to keep BT, its customers, and the UK safe.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high-performing team of engineers delivering cutting-edge security solutions.
  • Be a leader within the Software Engineering community, driving collaboration and sharing best practices.
  • Work closely with our SIEM design and implementation team to deliver SIEM functionality in line with requirements, architecture, and high-level solution design.
  • Lead on component design for new security capabilities, including feature enhancements to our existing tools, infrastructure, and network security.
  • Take technical leadership and design responsibility for one or more platforms.
  • Design and implement the deployment of new cyber protection infrastructure until it is operationally live and accepted into service.
  • Continuously develop professional cyber skills and awareness to stay ahead of attackers and develop the skills of others in the unit.
  • Owning development and implementation of operational processes, policies, and procedures, including platform and secops processes.
  • Provide effective technology coaching and mentoring both inside and outside the team.
  • When required, provide 2nd and 3rd-line support to maintain service availability during cyber attacks.
  • Implement technical proof of concepts to demonstrate how an architecture or design would be realized and prove out key technical concepts.
  • Interface with program and project managers to ensure appropriate security architecture engagement as necessary.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with a range of benefits including:

  • A minimum of 10% on-target bonus.
  • BT Pension scheme with a minimum 5% Employee contribution and BT contribution of 10%.
