We are looking for an experienced and talented product developer and tech who has experience working on apparel. The successful candidate will ensure the product is developed from concept through to production, on time, to the agreed cost and to the correct quality standards. Meeting all customer, safety and compliance requirements will be a priority.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
· Setting up Tech Pack information with the design team. Adding all technical requirements and information needed to enable accurate costing and sampling, once the initial information is received from design.
· Ensure Lab dips, Print / Application strike-offs, Base and Bulk fabrics, Trims etc. are correct and submitted to required Critical path dates.
· Check and fit all samples received and feedback comments to suppliers.
· Arrange fit and Pre-production meetings with customers, as and when needed to obtain final fit / technical sign off to confirm shipment of product.
· Manage the technical critical paths for both development and production styles. Providing weekly updates on status per customer to the Sales, Merchandising and Operations teams as required.
· Responsible for reviewing and understanding relevant supplier manuals and technical procedures for all your accounts and to ensure you are up to date with all order related processes.
· Ensure all product is in line with UK and EU requirements for safety on children’s items and accessories as required.
· Request and evaluate AQL reports for all your account styles / orders prior to shipment being approved to leave the factory. (Metal Detection reports to be requested and checked for all Childrenswear products).
· Build and maintain relationships with factories, in-country offices and customers you support and work with. Having weekly / regular calls to discuss live developments & orders.
· Arrange spot checks on banned and restricted substances, as part of due diligence requirements.
· General housekeeping of systems and physical files, for style and test report archiving.
This role will be filled by an experienced candidate with demonstrable experience in this field and with this product type. If you have previous experience in a similar role working with apparel, this may be the right role for you. The ideal candidate will also have:
· Previous experience in a Garment Technologist or Product Developer role
. Previous experience of Licensed products
· Knowledge of printing and application techniques
· Knowledge of safety requirements for Children’s wear products
· Construction and fit knowledge
· Strong planning and organisational skills
· Strong attention to detail.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team, building strong cross functional relationships.
· Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
