Assistant Accountant

Elevation Accountancy & Finance are excited to be working with a fantastic Manufacturing business in the Rotherham area as they look to recruit an established Assistant Accountant with hands on purchasing experience into their team.


Reporting to and supporting the Finance Manager, you will be joining a small friendly team, as a pivotal role within the finance and operations team - the role will be predominantly finance focused, but will also hold responsibility for some of the buying activities


We are looking for a team player (it’s all hands on deck), who is keen to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, with strong Excel skills who can hit the ground running


Duties of the Assistant Accountant will include:


  • Monthly Stock Controls / Costings
  • Prepayments & Accruals
  • Fixed Assets
  • Posted Journals /Cashbook/Petty Cash Reconciliations
  • Assisting with development of spreadsheets to help other team members
  • Help in Preparation of Management & Annual accounts
  • VAT Returns including Reconciliation
  • HR/Payroll
  • Generating purchase orders
  • Keeping track of stock and manage budgets effectively
  • Managing the order book and scheduling
  • Maintaining regular communication with other departments to streamline processes
  • Maintaining Commodity/ Import codes
  • Monitoring quotas
  • Reconciliation Deferment accounts
  • Admin of import documents /sending to clearing agents


Person Specification:


  • Previous experience within a similar accounts role
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of accounting principles & practices
  • Good communication skills
  • Good with computer systems
