Burbidge & Son Limited is a UK based, award winning manufacturer of quality kitchen and bathroom furniture with a strong family heritage and commitment to timeless design and quality.


Reporting to the Managing Director, and based in the Head Office in Coventry, the Finance Director Designate will be a technically strong leader, ensuring robust financial governance and control, together with the appropriate gravitas to work effectively across the business and eventually step into the Finance Director position.


Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a hands-on role managing a small team and the day to day finance operations, while providing strategic financial guidance to drive growth.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Completion of year-end accounts, and preparation of audit packs
  • Responsible for producing timely and accurate Management Information to provide insightful analysis
  • Develop the stock and planning system
  • Responsibility for daily cash flow and working capital management
  • Monitor and continuous improvement of all financial processes
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to assess business performance
  • Implement cost control measures and performance metrics to drive cost management and cost efficiency
  • Responsible for the development of the budget and forecasting process
  • Ensure a robust and cost-effective IT support team
  • Responsibility for Payroll to ensure the department meets all company and statutory regulations


We are looking for an effective finance leader with technical competence, a commercial mindset and engaging leadership to work effectively across the business. The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:


  • Recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA/ ACCA/ACA)
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving financial performance and adding value
  • Experience of using financial systems and technologies to drive change and efficiency
  • Proven experience in a finance leadership role, ideally within an owner managed manufacturing company
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
