Job Description

Burbidge & Son Ltd, a leading manufacturer of high-quality kitchen and bathroom furniture, is seeking a seasoned finance professional to join their team as a Finance Director Designate.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong leader to drive financial governance and control, while providing strategic guidance to support the company's growth and success.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small team and overseeing the day-to-day finance operations, including:

  • Preparation of financial statements and audit packs
  • Production of timely and accurate management information to inform business decisions
  • Development of the stock and planning system to optimize inventory management
  • Management of cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability
  • Continuous improvement of financial processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conducting in-depth financial analysis to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Implementation of cost control measures and performance metrics to drive cost management and efficiency
  • Development of the budget and forecasting process to inform business planning
  • Leadership of the IT support team to ensure a robust and cost-effective technology infrastructure
  • Management of payroll to ensure compliance with company and statutory regulations

The ideal candidate will possess a recognized accountancy qualification, strong financial acumen, and a track record of driving financial performance and adding value. They will also have experience in using financial systems and technologies to drive change and efficiency, as well as excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Key Requirements:

  • Recognized accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving financial performance and adding value
  • Experience of using financial systems and technologies to drive change and efficiency
  • Proven experience in a finance leadership role, ideally within a manufacturing company
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
