We are seeking a motivated Junior Designer to join the design team based in our Maldon, Essex Office.

Who are we?:

The Blues Group is one of the UK’s leading Apparel License suppliers. Our brands and what we do is pretty specialised, we have 5 different divisions that make up our group: Dennicci (Babywear), Blues Clothing (Toddler Daywear), Blues Nightwear (Kids & Adult Nightwear), Blues Dressing up, and Brecrest (Baby & Teen Sportswear).

As a license supplier, we have the privilege to work with some amazing licenses such as Disney, Bluey, Peppa Pig & Peter Rabbit.

So, what will the role involve and what will you do?

This position reports to the Designer/Senior Designer and works in partnership with the Design Manager, Design teams, merchandising teams, and production teams across our offices.

Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:

Design/Product:

• Stay updated on current fashion trends, materials, techniques and analyse competitor products to inform the design process
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences.
• Support the Designer & Senior Designer to generate and maintain a high standard of design within the customer brief, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Assist in creating concept boards and mood boards for each season or collection.
• Collaborate with designers and senior designers to sketch initial design ideas.
• Source appropriate fabrics, Pantones, trims, and embellishments for designs.
• Assist in fitting sessions where necessary and make amendments to designs.
• Amend artwork where required
• Maintain design development from initial meeting with the customer to ensure accurate placement of orders.
• Regular store visits/shop reports
• Attend customer meetings where required
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of the customer base when creating designs.
• Chase samples from factories.

Administration:

• Coordinate with the designers and Senior Designer and Account Manager to ensure price needs are met at the design stage.
• Respond to customer and factory queries.
• Supplying factories and customers with initial sample comments
• Complete tech packs when required
• Assist the design team with ad hoc administration duties.

Communication:

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams across the group
• Communicate design ideas and concepts clearly through sketches, technical drawings, and verbal explanations.
• Work closely with the sales teams to understand customer feedback and preferences.
• Work closely to support and train assistant designers.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a Junior Designer role
• Bachelor's degree in design or related field or relevant work experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively across departments.
