About Us: Mitie Energy is experiencing significant growth, and we're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Energy and Technical Solutions Manager to join our successful team. You'll play a key role in delivering energy performance objectives across a customer's estate, reporting to the Energy Operations Manager - PFI.


Your Role: As the Energy and Controls Manager, you'll work closely with the Energy Team and Site FM's to develop bespoke BEMS solutions for each site. Your focus will be on ensuring that the building and energy management system (BEMS) delivers the required environmental conditions in the most energy-efficient way possible.

How You Will Make Plan Zero Happen:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a comprehensive energy management service addressing all technical, managerial, operational, and purchasing issues.
  • Deliver a responsive, well-managed technical and operational service.
  • Contribute positively to account performance in terms of revenue, profit, and cash.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with PFI contract terms and conditions.
  • Develop and deliver a pipeline of energy-saving opportunities through low/no-cost optimizations, capital projects, and smart building technology.
  • Understand building services assets and how the BEMS interacts with major energy-using equipment to identify energy and carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain records and evidence to comply with standard processes and contract obligations.
  • Analyze utility and operational data to understand energy usage.

Energy Management:

  • Monitor energy usage and maintain accurate records for energy performance returns.
  • Control the energy performance of buildings, plant, and equipment to minimize energy consumption while maintaining contractual environmental conditions.
  • Recommend replacement of defective or obsolete plant and equipment.
  • Advise on energy consumption requirements and revenue cost implications for estate upgrades and new developments.
  • Manage, operate, and maintain the Building Management Systems across the PFI Schools Portfolio.
  • Produce annual and monthly energy reports detailing performance and conservation methods.
  • Instill energy conservation awareness among Education employees.
  • Optimize building and plant energy performance and upgrade systems to state-of-the-art technology.
  • Coordinate and support audits and performance measures for energy supply systems, environmental conditions, and statutory compliance.

Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with PFI contracts and client relationships.
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, including HVAC and lighting control systems.
  • Knowledge of energy management processes and techniques.
  • Analytical approach to data for business performance enhancement.
  • Good commercial skills and some project management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Ability to manage workload within tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Commercial awareness and planning skills.
  • Interest in ongoing learning and development.
  • Team player with an enthusiastic personality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
