About the Role:

As an IT Support Technician in Rugby, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of IT systems, infrastructure, and telephony services within a business-critical environment. Your responsibilities will include managing the PC environment, network, and telephone applications to ensure continuous operation and support for Volvo Trucks' call center.


Responsibilities:

Digital Champion for O365:

Act as the go-to person for O365, ensuring effective utilization and troubleshooting.


PC and Fleet Management:

  • Deploy, install, and manage computers.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of IT equipment, including handover to users and application installation.
  • Manage fleet operations, ensuring all devices are up-to-date and functioning.


Hardware Management:

  • Order hardware (HW) and manage PC ownership changes.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers for hardware needs.


VAS/Uptime Support Team:

  • Be an active member of the VAS/Uptime support team, collaborating to ensure service continuity.
  • Participate in weekly sync meetings to avoid any conflicts between GTO and Uptime.


Technical Escalation Point:

  • Serve as the point of escalation for all network and telephony technical incidents and problems.
  • Take ownership of issues until they are fully resolved.


System Maintenance:

  • Maintain IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring all backup facilities are operational.


Problem Solving:

  • Handle and resolve IT issues, providing workarounds when necessary.
  • Scripting and development of small software solutions as needed.


Interaction and Coordination:

  • Liaise with external suppliers and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Coordinate with the backup team in Gent or Skövde for support during holidays or sickness.


Knowledge and Learning:

  • Continuously improve your knowledge base on network, PC, and telephony systems.
  • Stay adaptable, eager to learn, and ready to handle stressful situations.



Required Skills:

Availability: Flexible working hours with a standard schedule of 8 am-4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional planned work outside these hours may be required.

Autonomy: Ability to work independently, taking full responsibility for tasks and issues.

Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt and find creative solutions.

Patience and Adaptability: Exhibit patience and adaptability in a fast-paced, critical environment.

Learning: Show a continuous eagerness to learn and grow within the role.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in IT Support: Prior experience in a similar IT support role, particularly within a call center or business-critical environment.
  • Knowledge of Volvo Tools: Familiarity with Volvo-specific tools such as Faros is a plus.
  • Scripting Skills: Basic scripting abilities to automate routine tasks.
  • Resident in Rugby: Preference for candidates residing in Rugby for proximity to the worksite.
