Allegra World Coffee Portal is the leading specialist information provider for senior coffee industry leaders globally. With more than 25 years' experience analysing the global coffee shop market through research, reports and consultancy, our global network of coffee professionals help businesses make informed decisions and develop powerful market strategies. Allegra World Coffee Portal is responsible for producing the Project Café report series featuring primary research on the branded coffee chain market and conducts the annual Great British Coffee Shop Survey featuring the responses of over 40,000 consumers across the UK.


Role Description

The Coffee Lead Researcher role is critical within the World Coffee Portal research team. You will perform primary research which directly contributes to Allegra report publications, and lead the recruitment and co-ordination of an ever-changing team of external research contractors across the globe in the gathering of time sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct research in accordance with World Coffee Portal’s proprietary research framework

· Perform coffee market research across multiple global geographies

· Co-ordinate the external research team ensuring consistent, high standard performance

· Contribute to monthly online client seminars presenting World Coffee Portal data

· Build first rate knowledge of key coffee markets, brand profiles and consumer trends

· Conduct in-depth interviews and distribute industry surveys with key industry players

· Build the Allegra contacts database by developing a wide breadth of industry contacts

· Support the team in delivering ad hoc client requirements for bespoke projects

· May require travel to other countries conducting primary data collection


Role Requirements

· Minimum two years’ experience working within market research

· Passion for coffee and knowledge of the wider industry

· Strong organisational, logistical and time management skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Intuitive knowledge of trustworthy and untrustworthy data sources

· Diligent, organised team player with positive attitude

· Capable of multi-tasking across different projects and working to deadlines

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint

· Must already be based in London, UK

Role Desirables

· Previous experience in a lead research role

· University degree or above

· Experience using IBM SPSS Statistics

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Salary: £36,000 OTE (£34,000 per year + £2,000 bonus potential based on performance)

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Hybrid, with head office in Camden, London

Following a suitability and eligibility screening call from Allegra’s Group Head of People, candidates will undertake a remote 90-minute online assessment focused on core research skills and attention to detail. Successful candidates in this phase will then be invited to Allegra HQ in Camden for an interview with Allegra World Coffee Portal’s Head of Research.
