The role


Following on from our recent purchase of an EFI Pro 30h hybrid printer, we have an opening for a new role within the company as a dedicated print operator.


Working alongside our print studio, you will primarily be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the new EFI hybrid printer. The role will include the following responsibilities:


- Setting up and running production of print jobs onto a variety of different substrates, ranging from rigid materials (such as foamex, dibond and acrylic) to black back fabric, PVC and self-adhesive vinyls

- Taking direction from our print studio about the specifics of each job and ensuring these are produced as per the job spec and to a high standard of quality, as well as flagging up any issues or discrepancies with the print files

- Managing the print queue to ensure that wherever possible, jobs are grouped together and run in the most effective and economical way

- Prioritising the workload to meet the most pressing deadlines first, allowing enough time for any extras or reprints

- Liaising with our CNC and mount departments with regards to the finishing required on these jobs

- Carrying out the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance on the printer, and ensuring any other issues are either resolved or escalated in a timely manner

- Maintaining stock levels of inks and consumables for the printer

- Other ad-hoc duties as required


In addition to the responsibilities set out above, due to the proximity of the role to the print studio there may be times when there is a requirement to assist the studio in setting up and processing artworks, as well as operating our other large format printers. There is also the potential to gain an understanding of – and experience within – our mount department. This would involve laminating prints, mounting and/or trimming, as well as collating and packing.


With this being a newly created role within the company, we are looking for someone who can come in and make the position their own in the short-term. As we move forwards and expand as a company, there is the potential for this to evolve into a more senior role, with the possibility for the chosen candidate to end up overseeing and managing a team of operators across a variety of different printers.


About you


Your role will involve communicating with the other departments within RHM, so good communication skills and fluency in English are paramount. While we would look favourably on previous working experience in a print environment, specifically on the EFI Pro 30h, and knowledge of RIP software such as Onyx and Caldera, full training will be provided so this is not essential. Further to this, any knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite would be helpful but again not imperative. An interest in both the events and print industry would also be beneficial.
