Electrical Design Engineer - Water Industry

About the Role:

Our Client is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join their team, working on exciting projects within the water industry. This is a hybrid role based in South London, offering a mix of office-based work and remote flexibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems on clean and waste water treatment sites, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Design & Development:

  • Develop detailed electrical designs for water treatment and distribution systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Create single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and layout drawings.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

Site Support & Coordination:

  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and oversee the installation of electrical systems.
  • Work closely with contractors and on-site teams to ensure proper installation and integration of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support during the commissioning and testing phases.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all electrical designs adhere to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments and design reviews to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and records of all design work.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices in electrical engineering and the water industry.
  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of electrical designs.


Key Requirements:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer) are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical design, within the water or utilities industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and power distribution.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
